The Summer Academies for High School Students returns for a sixth year at Sacramento State. Registration opens Wednesday, March 1.
The weeklong academies run June 26-30, July 10-14, July 17-21 and July 24-28. Students will explore different careers with hands-on activities, work with professors in the laboratory, and go behind the scenes with industry professionals as well as getting introduced to college life. The cost for the courses ranges from $275-$375 in total. Some of the courses offered include:
Coding: Students will learn the basics of computer programming to begin an exciting path in coding or computer science. Students will gain a solid understanding of how programming languages are used to build applications.
Engineering & Robotics: Students get the chance to build and program their own personalized robot! Students will also be challenged to design and build a popsicle stick bridge and compete to see whose bridge can support the most load.
Health Careers 101: Students get the chance to explore traditional and nontraditional health professions, earn a CPR certificate and learn the daily duties of paramedics.
Theater & Performing Arts: Students can explore the dramatic world of performing arts! They will be able to hone their acting and dance skills to gain a competitive edge for their next audition while learning about future opportunities in the arts.
